Restoring Dignity: The Bathroom Project

At Jabe Orphanage in Burundi, over 70 children call this place home. But until now, something most of us take for granted—safe, clean bathrooms—has been a daily challenge.

The existing facilities are unsanitary, overcrowded, and inadequate for the number of children. This isn’t just inconvenient—it’s a serious health risk and impacts the dignity of every child.

The Reality

  • Toilets are poorly maintained and unsafe

  • Not enough facilities for the number of children

  • Unsanitary conditions increase risk of illness

  • Children lack privacy and dignity

Our Solution

We are building modern flushing toilets designed to improve sanitation, reduce disease, provide safe facilities, and restore dignity to every child. This project is being completed in phases to ensure quality and sustainability.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

We officially broke ground on this project alongside the Director of Social Protection and government ministry leaders overseeing orphanages. Their presence affirms the importance of this work and its impact on the community.

Progress So Far

  • Groundbreaking completed

  • Phase 1 construction underway

  • Remaining phases in progress

Why This Matters

Something as simple as a toilet changes everything. It means children can stay healthy, caregivers can maintain clean environments, and kids experience dignity in everyday life. This is more than construction—it’s transformation.
